Our team
There are three neuro interventional radiologists that work in the department, which means that there is always someone available and we are able to assist one another with complex cases. All three doctors are experienced in the field since 2010, and trained under Professor Pieter Fourie, who was the founder of the unit and first person in South Africa to treat aneurysms with endovascular coiling. All doctors have qualified from the PLANET neuro intervention course (University of Toronto) and are accredited members of the South African Neuro Intervention Society (SANIS)
What makes the team unique is the fact that we have our own theatre with our state of the art neuro intervention suite at Netcare Unitas Hospital. Our team of five ICU trained nursing sisters and three radiographers are also exclusively employed in the unit. These crucial members of the team have a combined 77 years of experience in the field of neuro intervention.
At reception Amanda and Loandi are also an integral part of the team.
We work closely with neurosurgeons and neurologists as well as intensive care specialists in our hospital to ensure that our patients get the best treatment and care.
